Kevin Willmott/Director
Kevin Willmott is the writer-director of the controversial film CSA:
Confederate States of America, a mockumentary that envisions a United
States if the South had won the Civil War. It was screened with great
enthusiasm at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival, and now is playing
in worldwide release. CSA was hailed as, “Mind-bending! Scandalous,
fearless and hilarious” by Entertainment Weekly. Willmott, an
Assistant Professor in the University of Kansas Film Studies Department,
has written for the stage, television and the movies. His play, T-Money
and Wolf, co-written with Ric Averill, was included in the New Vision/New
Voices series produced by the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Willmott
also wrote, produced, and co-directed Ninth Street, a 1999 independent
feature film about growing up in small town Junction City, Kansas.
Distributed by Ideal, it's available on video and DVD. During his
film career, he has worked with such industry giants as Spike Lee,
Oliver Stone, Martin Sheen, Isaac Hayes, and Whoopi Goldberg. His
screenwriting collaborations with Mitch Brian include Shields Green,
The Gospel of John Brown, the television movies, House of Getty, and
the NBC mini-series, The'70's and Little Brown Brothers. He's also
written screen adaptations of Marching to Valhalla, The Watsons Go
To Birmingham, and the original screenplay, Colored Men, a depiction
of Houston’s 1917 riot, one of the saddest chapters in U.S.
history.

Hanay Geiogahma/Producer
Hanay Geiogahma, a Kiowa/Delaware born and raised in Oklahoma, is
an internationally renowned playwright, director, producer and historian
of American Indian performing arts whose work has spanned theater,
film, television, and dance. Currently a Professor and Director of
the UCLA American Indian Studies Center, Professor Geiogahma is founder
and Artistic Director for the American Indian Dance Theater and the
Native American Theater Ensemble. He also serves as Managing Editor
for the American Indian Culture and Research Journal. Professor Geioghma
has served as the head of PROJECT HOOP (Honoring Our Origins and Our
People) for the past six years, shaping it as an innovative force
introducing Native theater and performing arts across the nation.
Professor Geioghma also served as Senior Producer for the PBS 4-part
series, Native Americans in the 21st Century.
Peter James/Director of Photography
Peter James, ACS (Australian Cinematographer’s Society), ASC
(American Society of Cinematographers), is considered one of the top
cinematographers in the world. In 1970, at age 24, Mr. James won the
Australian Cinematographer of the Year award for the film Willy Willy.
He has since won the award three more times. Mr. James has also received
the Australian Film Institute’s Best Achievement in Cinematography
award three times, and has worked extensively with director Bruce
Beresford, starting in 1989, when they collaborated on the Academy-Award
winning best picture, Driving Miss Daisy. In 1990, Mr. James won the
Genie for his cinematography on the Canadian film, Black Robe, and
was nominated in 2004 for an Emmy for Outstanding Cinematography on
the HBO film And Starring Pancho Villa As Himself. He has also been
the cinematographer on the recent Hollywood films Double Jeopardy,
Meet the Parents, The Pacifier, and Cheaper by the Dozen 2. Mr. James
considers Black Robe, about 17th century Jesuit missionaries from
France trying to convert Algonquin Indians in Northern Canada, to
be his favorite film, and is inspired by both the story and cinematic
potential of Johnny Pigskin.
• Peter James has signed a letter of intent to be the director
of photography on Johnny Pigskin.
Marjorie Tanin / Casting Agent
Marjorie Tanin is of the Pueblo (Tewa), Hopi, and Kiowa tribe. She
was born and raised on the Santa Clara Pueblo Reservation in New Mexico. She
still maintians her strong traditional ways and is fluent in the Tewa
language. Marjorie became involved in the Motion Picture Industry
in 1987 as an actress. Besides her acting career, she also does
casting for Native American Indian roles and consults on projects.
She is an active member of the Native American sub-committee at SAG
(Screen Actors Guild) and AFTRA (American Federation of Television
and Radio Artists). From 1994-1998 she served as their Vice-Chair,
and was a steering committee member of the Ethic Women's Group. Marjorie
was also the main force behind the Native American Talent Directory.
Thomas L. Carmody/Writer/Producer
Thomas L. Carmody graduated from the University of Kansas with both
a B.S. and Master’s degree in Business Administration. For over
twenty years, Mr. Carmody held various trading and management positions
in the energy industry. Mr. Carmody is the co-writer of Johnny Pigskin
and has written two other sports-themed screenplays, both of which
won awards in various national screenplay competitions. Mr. Carmody
has invested in several recent film projects and is President of TLC
Films, L.L.C. and a co-partner in Carmody-O’Neal Workshop Productions
L.L.C.
J.T. O’Neal/Writer/Producer
J.T. O’Neal graduated from the University of Kansas with an
honor’s degree in history of art. He received his MD from KU
and completed his residency training at Harvard, where he also received
an MPH (Masters of Public Health.) In 2004, Dr. O’Neal received
an MFA (Masters of Fine Arts) in screenwriting from UCLA. While a
graduate student in film school, he won the prestigious UCLA Screenwriting
Showcase (considered the school’s top screenwriting award),
the Alfred P. Sloan Award (the school’s highest endowed screenplay
award), and the Carl David Award, with three different scripts. Also
an award-winning director, his short films have played at over 80
festivals around the world. Dr. O’Neal is the co-writer of Johnny
Pigskin, is a co-partner with Thomas Carmody in Carmody-O’Neal
Workshop Productions, and is the producer on the feature film Alien
Game, currently in post-production. In junior high school, he ran
in track meets held at the Haskell Stadium. |
